How it all started...
Harvest Center Church’s journey began in December 1915, when Lillian Kinsey and her daughter, Laura, left their home in Mentone, Alabama, to bring the message of the Church of God to Pell City. Their dedication and fervent prayers laid the foundation for what would become a thriving community of faith. By April 1916, their efforts were already making an impact, as they began supporting the church’s mission with financial contributions and heartfelt prayers.
In 1917, the church officially began to take shape with the arrival of evangelists and the support of local believers. Under the guidance of State Overseer J.B. Ellis, the congregation grew from its humble beginnings. Despite facing various challenges, the small but devoted group remained committed to their mission. Their perseverance bore fruit with the arrival of Z.D. Simpson in 1918, who revitalized the church with impactful meetings and spiritual renewal.
Throughout the decades, Harvest Center Church has weathered changes and growth with unwavering faith and resilience. From its early days of prayer meetings and tent revivals to the establishment of a lasting community presence, the church has continuously embraced its mission to spread the Gospel. Today, over 100 years later, Harvest Center Church stands as a testament to the enduring spirit and dedication of its founders and members. We continue to celebrate our rich history while looking forward to a future filled with hope and growth.
